    The next stage of a 1,000-home development on the edge of Chippenham has been approved. Wiltshire Council has given the green light on the reserved matters application for phase five of the Rowden Park project on Patterdown Road. This part of the project has determined the design and layout of a further 134 homes submitted by Bellway Homes. Chippenham Town Council has maintained its objection throughout, despite revised plans being proposed earlier this year.

Exagen Development Limited submitted the original application in December 2023 for a 23MW renewable energy park to the west of Lyneham substation, north of the Great Western Mainline, to the west of Dauntsey Lock.

    Major construction has been given the go-ahead at the Stonehenge visitor centre, as Wiltshire Council has approved a planning application for new education facilities. English Heritage submitted the application to the council in November 2023, which requested permission to construct two new buildings approximately 2.5 miles to the west of the Stonehenge Circle.

Healthcare developer Montpelier Estates previously applied for permission to construct an 80-bedroom care home on land off Bradford Road before the plans were withdrawn in 2021. Now, the plans are active again on the Wiltshire planning and building control public register, with a deadline date for a council decision in mid-May.

After a brilliant year and a half, this is my last week as a Local Democracy Reporter. I am so grateful for the experience and the friendships I’ve made with colleagues in Wiltshire. Looking ahead, I'm excited to join the ITV West Country team as a Production Journalist in April.
