COLIN WOOD, 44, of Shakespeare Avenue, Southampton, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft after he stole six bottles of spirits worth £216 on October 17, 2024, and six further bottles of spirits worth £133 on October 20, 2024, both from Waitrose in Romsey. He was handed an 18-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £349 fine. He must also pay prosecution costs of £85.

Here are some of the cases heard at Southampton Magistrates’ Court Charlotte Haines, 37, faced two charges of dishonestly failing to notify a change of circumstances that would affect her entitlement to housing benefits and universal credit. The court heard the offences took place between February 2019 and September 2023, and September 2021 and September 2023.

Commoner Erika Dovey was nearly twice the legal limit when she was caught behind the wheel in Burley last month. The 43-year-old, who is a ranger for the New Forest National Park Authority (NPA), is known for speaking out against dangerous drivers in the national park. She was previously interviewed by the Echo in November 2020 when one of her horses was killed in a hit and run incident. Appearing at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on April 30, Dovey faced a single charge of drink-driving.

The unauthorised encampment was set up at Mount Pleasant Playing Fields near Hamble Primary School last night. Around 50 caravans were believed to have descended on the green space. Police officers were called to the scene following reports a man in his 40s was assaulted at the playing fields. The circumstances surrounding the assault are yet to be confirmed.
