Ennis business owners and concerned locals have this Wednesday morning come out in opposition to a proposal under the draft Ennis Local Transport Plan (LTP) to create a one-way system on the Mill Road. The proposal if it goes ahead would involve the creation of new footpaths and a cycle lane along the road. However, according to Keith Whyte of Pat Foudy and Daughters based on Pound Lane this “makes no sense” with the Mill Road one of the busiest routes in the county capital.

Resurfacing works carried out in an historic part of Ennis in recent years have been deemed “not acceptable” with the council being urged to go back to the contractors and demand it be re-done. Local residents complaints over the works at Hermitage which saw concrete roads covered with a ‘Ralumac’ surface were highlighted at a meeting of the Ennis Municipal District where Councillor Antoinette Baker Bashua said, “the road isn’t fit for purpose”.
