THE latest survey by anti litter group IBAL has found three coastal areas in Kerry to be ‘moderately littered’. This week Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) published the results of its 2023 ‘Marine’ survey of coastal areas which saw 33 beaches, rivers and harbours – and their immediate surroundings – across the country examined by judges from An Taisce in June and July. In Kerry the adjudicators inspected Dingle, Portmagee and Ballybunion.

A CRUNCH meeting will take place in Tralee in the coming weeks to discuss the future of the Rose of Tralee and how to guarantee the event will remain in the county capital.

Details of the meeting were announced on Tuesday following comments, the previous day, from Rose of Tralee Chief Executive Anthony O’Gara suggesting the televised Rose selection nights could be moved to Dublin unless the festival company receives greater support from Tralee’s business community and is able to find a dedicated venue to host the televised event going forward.

Oh, this one hurt. Physically, it left Ciara Mageean prone on the track, every fibre of her being exhausted, depleted, by the delirious effort required to finish fourth in the world.
