Authorities in Texas have arrested the alleged driver of a jet ski that fatally struck an 18-year-old fresh off her first year at the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School, officials said Tuesday. Ava Moore was kayaking near Oak Park Cove on Grapevine Lake — a reservoir about 20 miles northwest of Dallas and northeast of Fort Worth — when the collision occurred Monday evening, according to a joint statement from the Texas Game Wardens and the Grapevine Police Department.

An Ohio sheriff’s deputy was fatally shot while responding to a domestic violence incident by a suspect who was also wounded in the Memorial Day gunfire exchange, according to authorities. Morrow County Sheriff John Hinton on Tuesday identified the fallen officer as 31-year-old Daniel Weston Sherrer, whom he described as a “godsend” for the community and his fellow deputies. “Always had a smile on his face. A New Jersey man who stored more than 2 million images of child sex abuse on devices he stashed behind his washer and dryer has been ordered to spend more than two decades behind bars. Derek McDonough was sentenced earlier this month to 25 years in state prison, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Plainsboro Township Police Chief Eamon Blanchard announced in a joint press release on Monday.

NEW YORK — “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed has been released from prison after spending more than a year behind bars for the fatal on-set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Prison records show Gutierrez-Reed was freed from the Western New Mexico Correctional Facility on Friday morning, having served about 13 months of her 18-month sentence. Sources told TMZ her early release was due to good behavior, specifically her completion of a drug program while behind bars.
