ALTON — Alton High School Assistant Principal Willie Kilpatrick felt guilty at first for being off campus the day of the school shooting at St. Louis Public School District's Central Visual and Performing Arts High School (CVPA), where at that time he was dean of arts and artistic director. He overcame those feelings when he realized how he could help by not being on the campus when the shooting occurred on Oct. 24, 2022.

STAUNTON — Teachers and students of Staunton High School will welcome upgrading a 100-year-old school building for the Staunton School District if a bond issue passes during the 2024 general election. "If voters live in the Staunton School District, it will be on their ballot," said Steve Moore, the district's Educational Services Administrator. "So far people have been pretty receptive."Moore said the administration is cautiously optimistic that the referendum will pass on Nov. 5.
