THE private hospital at the centre of an inquest into the death of a mum has issued a statement offering its condolences to the family and assurances that it takes “such matters extremely seriously.”Maxine Spittlehouse (48) underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy as an NHS patient at Kinvara Private Hospital in Rotherham on July 16 last year, after the procedure had been advised to treat her heavy and painful periods.
Theme park expands with two new rides

TWO new rides have officially opened for thrill-seekers at a Rother Valley theme park. Gulliver’s Valley has expanded its Gulliver’s Gears area with the opening of its new Turbo Tower and Crazy Planes rides. Manufactured by SBF Visa, Turbo Tower gives riders treetop views of the surrounding Rother Valley before plunging them down a 15m drop. Guests can now also buckle up and take a flight on the super Crazy Planes ride which spins guests through the skies.

A DEDICATED duo took to the streets to raise £1,600 for a non-profit carers support organisation in Rotherham. Alison Cooksey and Chloe Farrow took part in the Sheffield Half Marathon on behalf of Crossroads Care Rotherham and raised £1,100, with management accountant Alison’s employer Beatson Clark also donating £500.
Evening of song and smiles raises £1,000

A LOCAL choir helped ensure a Rotherham charity was on song – when it helped the organisation kick off its 40th anniversary celebrations. Friends in Harmony put on the concert at St Francis’ Church in Bramley and raised more than £1,100 for Age UK Rotherham to help older people in the borough, with a showcase of numbers from musicals, classical songs and pop tunes.
Oldest charitable organisation hosts AGM

ROTHERHAM’S oldest charitable organisation has held its AGM and made two new appointments. The Feoffees, which can trace its origins back to the 14th century, held the AGM event at Sitwell Park Club which was attended by Rotherham Mayor Cllr Sheila Cowen. Hazel Yarlett was appointed greave (or chair), and Tim Mulroy appointed little greave (in effect the vice-chair).
