    BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) — Theatre West Virginia recently kicked off its 2025 Spring Academy, which will culminate in a June 1st production. The eight-week session introduces students to various theatrical disciplines, including acting, musical theater, dance, prop design, and stage makeup. It provides grades 3-12 a taste of what it’s like to be a part of a professional theater company and gain valuable life skills.

So they are thrilled to open their new detachment in Clear Fork Elementary School and for the benefits it will bring to the community. It’s a safety issue for the school kids and a top priority for the Raleigh County School System, the superintendent, board of education and sheriff’s department.

    RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Parking is a long-term, ongoing problem in Beckley. Mayor Ryan Neal says only half of the city’s parking meters work and are so old they can’t get the parts to fix them. Officials will address parking at the Tuesday, April 8th council meeting. “So City Council’s going consider doing a two-hour parking, and that’s to keep somebody from parking 24 hours in a spot,” Neal said. “We’ll let people park there for free.

    Raleigh County Schools is celebrating understanding and acceptance of students with disabilities and raising special needs awareness within its district-wide community. Ridgeview Elementary kicked off its 2nd Annual Disability Awareness and Acceptance Week. Everybody needs to have a voice and be heard, let their talent shine, and be recognized for what makes them special.
