    Some of the top high school basketball players in Northern Nevada will get one more chance to hit the court this spring in a pair of All-Star Showcase games on Saturday at North Valleys High School. The girls' game, set for 6 p.m., will pit seniors on one team against juniors, sophomores and freshmen on the other. The boys' game will start at 7:30, with mixed rosters among all grade levels. Cost is $10 for spectators (cash only) at the door.

    Apparently, Jon Gruden is not only a huge fan of Nevada football but a knowledgeable historian of the Wolf Pack program. The former NFL coach posted a video on his social media accounts April 16 lauding the Wolf Pack, citing Chris Ault, Marion Motley, Brock Marion, Colin Kaepernick, Nate Burleson, Romeo Doubs, Joel Bitonio and numerous other Wolf Pack greats.

    The Nevada basketball team has added a couple of new players in the transfer portal, and has one intriguing (and somewhat familiar) high school name a possibility to join the Wolf Pack next season. Coach Steve Alford has commitments from TayShawn Comer, who played at Evansville last season; and Elijah Price, who played at Fresno State. The Wolf Pack also has two new coaches joining the team.

    The Reno Rodeo is in the running for USA TODAY's 10 Best Readers’ Choice award for Best Rodeo, and there’s still time for fans to cast their vote. Fans can vote once per day through April 28 to help the "Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West" earn national bragging rights as the top rodeo in the country. Nominees were selected by a panel of travel experts and journalists, and winners are determined through public voting.

    The two leading receivers last season are gone from Nevada Wolf Pack football. But the team has one key returner, as well as a few young players, ready to step into the starring roles — including a Bishop Manogue graduate. Truckee alum Marcus Bellon was third in receiving yards last season with 522 yards and four touchdowns, behind two players who are out of eligibility — Cortez Braham (724 yards, four TDs) and Jaden Smith (849 yards, 7 TDs).
