BELLEVUE, Iowa – Blake Bussan didn’t exactly start the way he wanted on Saturday night. But, as soon as the University of Wisconsin-Platteville senior-to-be from Cuba City figured things out, he pitched lights-out ball. Bussan overcame a rocky first inning to pitch six innings of two-hit ball to lead Worthington to a 5-2 victory over Key West in the championship game of the Bellevue Semi-pro Tournament at Cole Park.

It usually takes a little while for a high school baseball offense to settle into a groove, and Western Dubuque found itself behind the curve after rain wiped out its entire first week of the season. But the Bobcats picked up a pair of eight-inning character Mississippi Valley Conference wins at Dubuque Senior on Friday night. They won the opener, 8-3, and completed the sweep, 7-6, in waning daylight to improve to 4-1. The Rams moved to 5-5.
