UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Board of Education accepted the report of a Facilities Steering Committee made up of local citizens on Monday night and approved presenting a plan to the State Treasurer’s office for a potential bond election. The board is scheduled to hold a special meeting on April 7 to decide whether or not a nearly $30 million bonding proposal will be placed on the August 5 ballot.

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Community Schools Board of Education approved renovations to the Rotary Softball Complex next the Max Larsen Elementary School on Monday night. Among the changes will be new infield dirt on the varsity diamond which was described on the agenda as “54 tons of washing ball mix.”Coldwater High School Athletic Director Todd Farmer explained the mix will come in handy during rainy weather.

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A former Coldwater and St. Joseph County resident was order to serve up to 15 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court for various sex crimes. 54-year-old David Michael Miller entered no contest pleas on February 3 to two counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct as well as to charges of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct and gross indecency between males.

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Local non-profit ADAPT, Incorporated will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in April. An Open House will be in Coldwater later this summer which will welcome individuals ADAPT serves, their families and guardians, current employees, Board members and partner agencies. ADAPT’s main office is located on Morse Street. They serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

YPSILANTI, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater boys swim and dive team had a successful finish to their season over the weekend at the M.H.S.A.A. Division Three state meet hosted by Eastern Michigan University. The Cardinals had six swimmers and two divers competing. The prelims on Friday started with the 200 medley relay where Taylor Eberts, Cooper Otto, Mason Grabowski, and Mason Sabaitis improved from their seed time with a season best time, to finish up three spots in 23rd place.
