    COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater BPU Board of Directors approved a bid of just over $2-and-a-half million on Wednesday night from R. Yoder Construction of Nappanee, Indiana for the first phase of the Water Resource Recovery Facility renovation and expansion project. The work is being performed in order to increase the capacity and efficiency of the treatment plant which handles three-and-a-quarter million gallons per day.

    SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Sherwood Township Planning Commission is recommending to the Township Board a proposed penalty change amendment to the township zoning ordinance. The Planning Commission wants to reduce the penalty for ordinance violations from criminal down to a municipal civil infraction.

    COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Another step towards the construction on the first phase of the Western Meadows project took place Monday night as the Coldwater Planning Commission approved the preliminary site plan for the first ten lots of the development. The first of three phases will feature single family residential homes that will be priced at between $350,000 and $400,000. Eventually, plans call for between 30 and 35 units to be built in the area of Western Avenue and State Street.

    UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Centreville Bulldogs captured the M.H.S.A.A. Division Three Baseball District championship at Union City’s Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Quincy Orioles 5-1 in the finals. Winning pitcher Ben Truckenmiller set down the first 14 batters he faced in the finals and held the Orioles to only three hits. Ryan Kempter broke up Truckenmiller’s bid for a perfect game with a two out single in the top of the fifth.

    COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A new art event will take place in downtown Coldwater next month following its approval Wednesday morning by the Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors. “Art After Hours” will be held on June 27 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. as a way to encourage foot traffic in the downtown area and to highlight the role that art plays in the community.
