    COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Administrator Frank Walsh told their Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that the project to renovate the courtrooms in the Branch County Courthouse is moving along. He said the proposed contracts for IT work and courtroom chairs seem to be under budget. The Commissioners are scheduled to take action on those contracts next month.

    COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Due to a requirement by the state’s Enviromental, Great Lakes and Energy Department, Branch County needs to adopt a Soil Erosion and Sediment Control policy with enforcement action. The Branch County Board of Commissioners decided during their work session on Thursday to bring forward a proposed policy covering civil infractions and enforcement procedures to their next regular meeting on June 24. Formal action is expected at that time.

    BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council directed City Attorney Chuck Lillis on Monday night to continue going through the court system in an attempt to have the property owner of a dilapidated property at 630 North Matteson Street make necessary repairs. The property is said to be an eyesore on the north side of Bronson and it continues to deteriorate.

    COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners accepted a three year contract with the Police Officers Association of Michigan on Thursday which will cover Branch County 911 dispatchers. The action came after the Commissioners discussed the contract in a closed session. The contract will run from July 1 of this year to June 30, 2028. Details of the agreement were not immediately available. It’s hoped the new contract will lead to the hiring of additional dispatchers.

    COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County is ready to enter into an agreement with Western Michigan University Pathology Services for medical examiner duties. The Board of Commissioners brought forward a proposal from Prosecutor Zach Stempien during their work session on Thursday after the County’s contract with its medical examiner Doctor Troy Davis recently expired. Davis is based in Litchfield. He had been performing medical examiner duties for Branch County since 2004.
