Louise Boughen, 44, was last seen in the Princes Street area of Hawick around 10am on Thursday, 5 June. The ‘freight-flex’ ferries, also known as Northern Isles Freight Vessels (NIFV), have been being developed by Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd and naval architects Leadship Design and Consulting, and has been presented to Scottish government ministers and officials. Ms Hyslop confirmed that the design will be the basis of a tendering process, with funding available in the 2025-26 budget. Transport Scotland said that there is a “potential” contract start on the freighter replacements next year.

Police have made one arrest following the incident at Queen Elizabeth House, which is being treated as vandalism. The building is the flagship UK Government Hub in Scotland, and was opened in 2020 by then-secretary of state David Mundell.

A survey by the union NASWUT found that just 2% of those who responded said that support was always in place, while a third said some pupils rarely have their needs met.

But now community campaigners who have been working to have it reopened say they have ‘the final piece of the puzzle’ to take it into community ownership and reopen it to visitors. Dramatically located at the top of South Ronaldsay cliffs, the Tomb of the Eagles dates back 5,000 years to the late Stone Age. When it was discovered, it contained 30 human skulls – and the remains of at least 14 Sea eagles – giving the burial site its name.
