A female-led project from Scotland has launched an ambitious plan to create the first wild west film funded entirely by women. ‘Spaghetti Western’ is the latest initiative from Wigtown-based and US-born writer and director Jessica Fox, who hopes it will help open the door for more female influence over the movie industry. She, and London-based producer Diana Phillips, believe it’s essential to have more films created from the female gaze and with female financing.

The march will be a first for Thurso (Image: NQ) Permission has been granted to holds the UK’s most northernly pride march. A group in Caithness have been given the green flag to hold a celebration parade of LGBTQ+ culture in Thurso for the first time other. The John O’Groats Journal and Caithness Courier reports that Stepping Out is less than a year old, having formed in September 2024.

A pizza parlour in the Granite City was named ‘Independent Restaurant of the Year’, while Glasgow’s Smoky Trotters was named the ‘best burger and American cuisine’ for 2025.

A detailed planning application has been for a 620-bed student accommodation scheme, which would be built on the south side of the city’s Bath Street. The updated plans follows outline planning consent being granted at the end of last year to development company CxG Glasgow Limited.
