STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Great Kills ran its Little League District 24 All-Star 10-year-old Softball Tournament record to 2-0 with a 15-0, three-inning mercy victory over Staten Island (0-2) Friday night at the winner’s field. The game was a makeup from Thursday’s night’s storm-induced postponement. Manager Alyson Chiaramonte’s charges will face Mid-Island (1-0) Saturday morning in Travis at 11 a.m. in a cruciual encounter.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Snug Harbor, behind a combined no-hitter from Taylor Thomson and Julia Mattera, got into the win column Thursday evening in the Little League District 24 All-Star 10-year-old softball tournament by beating host South Shore, 9-1, in a game stopped after five innings because of storms.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- South Shore and Mid-Island both entered their Little League District 24 All-Star 12s softball tournament game unbeaten Wednesday, but the Tottenville loop got plenty of hitting and strong pitching to pull out an 8-1 victory at the winner’s field. South Shore improved to 2-0 in round-robin play, while Mid-Island suffered its first loss in three outings. SS travels to unbeaten Snug Harbor Friday, while Mid-Island has a bye.
