The devastation left behind after a suspected gas explosion at a property can be seen in detail in new photos. Emergency services were called to Lancaster Road in Yate, near Bristol, at 06:53 BST on Tuesday. Three people were taken to hospital and more than 40 residents were evacuated after the fire spread to neighbouring properties. A cordon was put in place around the scene and a refuge centre was set up at the nearby Farmhouse pub. The explosion almost completely destroyed the property.

A self-taught film-maker from Bristol has won a top award for his latest short film which tells the story of a middle class housewife seeking a troubled young man from her past. Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol, director Paul Holbrook revealed he is planning to make a version of Pride and Prejudice, set in Hartcliffe. "We're doing a Pride and Prejudice remake that's going to be set in Hartcliffe which we're supposed to start shooting at the end of this year", said Mr Holbrook.

An emergency road closure is causing "chaos" for city residents. A 395ft (120m) stretch of York Road in Bristol, either side of Langton Street Bridge - commonly known as the Banana Bridge - has been closed since Monday. "Urgent" work is being carried out in the area to prevent movement of a masonry wall along the River Avon. Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow more time to complete their journeys.
