San Francisco police officers arrested a suspect after a fatal shooting at the edge of the Tenderloin on Monday afternoon — San Francisco’s fifth homicide of the year. At 5:29 p.m., San Francisco police officers came to the corner of Turk and Mason streets, near the Powell BART station, responding to reports of a shooting. They found a victim “suffering from a gunshot wound” and rendered aid, according to the department. Medics were called, but the victim was declared dead on-site.

In a possible first, a suspect in the Outer Sunset today fired upon a San Francisco police drone — and, later, at officers — before police returned fire and sent him to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gun wound. The incident may be the first instance of a San Francisco Police Department drone being fired upon — the department only began using drones last year. It is unclear if the drone was hit.
