DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Life is bigger than sports is a saying near and dear to the heart of Davenport North soccer coach David Gamble. In December of 2019, Gamble’s daughter Kenzie passed away after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer. During her battle, Gamble started the Life is bigger than sports soccer event to honor her fight. It began with two teams and has evolved into a premier soccer event in Iowa.

MOLINE, Illinois (KWQC) - For the past 4 seasons of high school tennis in Illinois, nobody has been able to beat Alleman senior Nicholas Patrick. “There’s always been a target on my back I think since kind of since that freshman year state title but I’ve taken that X on the back as respect you know I’ve worked hard to become successful and I’ve accomplished some amazing things” said Patrick.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Growing up in Rock Island, Steamwheelers wide receiver Jordan Vesey learned how to work hard. “I kind of got a chip on my shoulder like I get it from my mom, Janet Vesey to be honest like she’s a very hard working woman she’s a hustler and to watch her growing up work as hard as she did, I just feel like I’m required to do the same thing” said Vesey who was a star at Augustana and Rock Island High School. That drive has taken Vesey far.
