General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, with Union troops and informed enslaved African Americans that they were free.

NORWALK, Conn. — Stamford Superior Court was the site of a ‘No Kings’ protest as protestors carried signs, smashed crown-shaped piñatas, and waved American flags as prominent community members spoke. The Good Trouble—Indivisible Norwalk Team teamed up with Indivisible Stamford, Indivisible Greenwich, ReSisters, Indivisible Connecticut 4, and others to organize the Stamford protest in conjunction with similar demonstrations taking place across the nation.
