Recently, the third development partner has been named, and a new agreement is in the works to help speed things up. Right now, the Crossroads site just isn't very pretty. Frankly, it kind of looks abandoned. However, there are still plans to dress this place up. New designs call for taking down the parking garage.

Thursday's session wasn't very special, though. Just more debate on how to cut property taxes in the state. Sen. Steve Erdman doesn't believe this special session will be a success.

Visitors can play slot machines, table games, and lay down sports bets right here in Omaha. The ribbon was cut, and Warhorse Casino opened its doors on Tuesday, bringing casino gambling and property tax relief to the state of Nebraska. Thomas Morris from Council Bluffs usually spends his gambling dollars in Iowa.

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Wind gusts of 90 miles per hour blew out power to more than 200,000 homes in the metro, blowing off branches and bringing down entire trees in many neighborhoods. Omaha officials tell 6 News it will take some time to clean up the mess last night's storm left behind. The storm was intense, high winds blowing around sheets of rain, the storm touching almost every neighborhood in the area. The storm caused a massive amount of damage to the metro.
Omaha program helping men transition from prison life, beat addictions

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A high percentage of the prison population is dealing with addiction issues or committing crimes to deal with their addiction. But now, a program in Omaha is finding some success dealing with men coming out of prison who have addiction issues. Last fall, we talked to Shane Reilly about his 50th Street Landing reentry program. The program helping men transition from prison to life on the outside has been successful and it's growing.
Priest loses lawsuit against Archdiocese of Omaha

LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - In a ruling issued Friday, a former associate priest in the Archdiocese of Omaha lost his appeal to the Nebraska Supreme Court. Father Andrew Syring sued in October 2020 after he was removed from his position for what the archdiocese claimed were significant boundary violations with young adults and minors. Syring sued for more than $2 million claiming he did nothing wrong and was denied due process.
