Skip Johnson and the Oklahoma pitching staff took Sooner baseball as far as they could in 2025. Pushing No. 5 national seed North Carolina to a winner-take-all game seven on the Tar Heels’ home field on Monday, OU’s journey ended with an 14-4 loss to the host squad at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels continue on to the Super Regional round with a 45-13 record, while Oklahoma’s season ends at 38-22.

Three Oklahoma Sooners are back on the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame ballot. Linebackers George Cumby and Rocky Calmus and quarterback Josh Heupel are all on this year’s ballot for induction again into the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. All three were included on last year's ballot as well. Another familiar name — former Miami-FL head coach Larry Coker — is also on this year’s ballot.

Oklahoma wasted no time jumping all over Nebraska on Sunday in their NCAA Tournament rematch at the Chapel Hill Regional. But now the No. 2-seeded Sooners have all afternoon to think about what’s next. By taking down the 3-seed Huskers in an absolute 17-1 rout — for the second time in three days at Boshamer Stadium — OU earned a rematch with top seed and host North Carolina in the regional championship on Sunday evening.

Oklahoma’s Witherspoon brothers reversed roles this weekend in the NCAA Tournament. No. 3 starter Malachi Witherspoon, who posted a 1-8 record in SEC play with a 6.08 earned run average, dominated Nebraska on Friday night at the Chapel Hill Regional. Then ace Kyson Witherspoon, who went 5-3 against the Southeastern Conference with a 2.98 ERA, was rocked for six unearned runs in the first inning against host North Carolina on Saturday. Baseball can be weird sometimes.
