A former Oklahoma guard has finally found a home. Maybe. Duke Miles,, who started all 34 games for OU in 2024-25, has reportedly committed to Vanderbilt, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. This isn’t Miles’ first dalliance with the transfer portal this offseason. Rather, it’s his third. After leaving OU, Miles was previously committed to Virginia and Texas A&M. Miles had plenty of experience in the portal before he even got to Oklahoma last year.

Oklahoma jumped on top early, but that success lasted less than an inning, and now the Sooners will try to salvage a series split. Kentucky scored four times in the bottom of the first and the Wildcats held off any hopes of as Sooner rally to beat No. 16-ranked OU 8-5 and win the series. UK took Friday’s opener 4-3. OU dropped to 32-16 overall 13-13 in Southeastern Conference play, while Kentucky improved to 27-20 and 12-14.

Oklahoma and Texas have never faced off in the sport of baseball. Welcome to the new SEC. The Sooners and Wildcats staged a couple of one-point classics this year in men’s basketball. In football, Bud Wilkinson and Bear Bryant squared off in a Sugar Bowl. But Friday’s meeting at Kentucky Proud Park in Lexington was their first on the diamond — and it was a good one. OU had the winning run on base in the top of the ninth with their best hitter at the plate, but the Kentucky held on for a 4-3 victory.

Oklahoma’s winning formula against Ole Miss didn’t hold up Sunday in the series finale against the Rebels. OU took the first two games of their first-ever SEC meeting with Mississippi with excellent starting pitching, good bullpen work, timely hitting and reliable defense. But in losing 7-3 on Sunday at L. Dale Mitchell Park, the Sooners didn’t get enough of either one. Starting pitcher Malachi Witherspoon threw just 4 2/3 innings and gave up five earned runs (six total) on seven hits and a walk.
