A child in northwest Harris County who had no recent travel history tested positive for measles, health officials said Thursday. Harris County Public Health was notified Thursday that testing conducted by a commercial laboratory confirmed the child had measles, said Dr. Ericka Brown, the county's local health authority.

A 17-year-old from Hockley was indicted on a terrorism charge - the first of its kind in the county, based on a recent state law -allegedly plotting with an incarcerated ISIS fighter last year to carry out a mass shooting, according to officials and court documents. The teen, Laith Adil Shehzad, is accused of making a threat that led FBI agents to his home Aug. 18, according to court records.
