In East Price Hill, two days after ICE arrests along Warsaw Avenue, information is on slow drip. According to the Butler County Sheriff's office, more than 300 "illegal aliens" are being held at the jail. Spokeswoman, Sgt. Kim Peters, confirmed Monday that Alonzo Tomas' Mendez is one of them. He and two other men were taken into custody Saturday morning outside the Kroger store that is frequented and supported by the Latino community.

There has been a call to action tonight in support of Cincinnati's immigrant community. It comes after several arrests by federal agents Saturday in East Price Hill. Some West Side churches and others are organizing a rally from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon in front of the Warsaw Avenue Kroger. That is the same location where, according to witnesses, three men just outside the parking lot were taken into custody around 9 a.m. Saturday morning. "I stopped and I looked. Like a stone giant, Carew Tower looms over the center of Cincinnati. For more than 80 years, it was the tallest of all with a classic observation deck atop 49 stories. You don't need the famous clock on the corner to tell you about the ravages of time. "It's just an underutilized building,” said Joe Rudemiller of 3CDC. He and government leaders are high on the plans laid out by New York-based Victrix to transform Carew's offices into living space.

Cincinnati's post-primary analysis might be in need of an extra long couch. Voter turnout Tuesday turned out to be very low. Picture two-thirds of Paycor Stadium empty on game day. That's how many Cincinnatians voted on Tuesday. A little over 22,000 people, 8 percent of registered voters. Mayor Aftab Pureval got 18,505 of them, but worries about the turnout trend. "It's hard to take big conclusions out of a turnout vote that was that small," Pureval said.

In his very first race for elected office, Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval remembered he "was sweating bullets.”That was in 2016, when he was not well-known but got elected as the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts. He's an old hand at it now, although he admits to a certain nervous tension on election days. The one Tuesday, Ohio’s 2025 primary, offered a light ballot and an even lighter turnout, which nags at all three of the mayoral candidates who were out and about Tuesday trying to raise interest.
