Federal prosecutors have dropped their case against former Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin, who resigned nearly three years ago amid charges he took bribes and falsified records. Prosecutors alleged Benjamin helped a Harlem real estate developer's nonprofit secure a $50,000 grant in exchange for illegal campaign contributions. The state of New Jersey is not giving up its fight to block congestion pricing from taking effect in New York City, just days before the program is slated to start. An attorney for New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy filed a last-ditch attempt late Tuesday night to prevent the MTA from flipping on its automated cameras, which will charge drivers a toll when they enter Manhattan below 60th Street beginning on Sunday.

Landlords across New York state will soon be required to notify tenants when bedbugs have infested their building. Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a bill on Friday that requires building owners and lessors to provide written notice soon after they’re informed of an infestation. But the Democratic governor signed the bill only after striking a deal with lawmakers to give landlords more time to provide notice. Now, notice has to go out within 72 hours — up from the original 24 hours.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s “indefinite” pause of congestion pricing officially ended on Thursday, five months after she abruptly halted the tolling program that's designed to fund $15 billion worth of crucial transit repairs. In a development first reported by Gothamist, the governor gave the MTA the green light to launch the tolls, which will impose a fee on drivers who enter Manhattan south of 60th Street (unless they remain on the West Side Highway, FDR Drive or the Battery Park Underpass).
