A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a Jeep on County Road 6 near Stryker Street Monday night, according to the Elkhart Police Department. The crash occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, and involved a male motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family. The driver of the Jeep, a woman, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

LaPorte County deputies attempted a traffic stop early Wednesday, April 22, after spotting a vehicle with a license plate violation on U.S. 20. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Hassan N. Malley of Beverly Shores, fled the scene after refusing to exit the vehicle. The pursuit moved through Indiana and into Michigan before returning to Michigan City. Officers eventually disabled one of Malley’s tires using stop sticks, and the vehicle came to a stop on I-94 near the 37-mile marker.

Five juveniles were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash in Cass County. The collision occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, along M-51 near Crystal Springs Street, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say a 41-year-old Niles man was driving northbound on M-51 when he rear-ended another northbound vehicle driven by 63-year-old Brian Bowditch of Portage.
