A man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting happened near Don Juan Cantina and Grill, in the 3400 block of Sample Street in South Bend. Officers responded around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 4, after a ShotSpotter alert and found the victim at the scene. The Violent Crimes Unit is investigating. A mother and her three children who vanished under suspicious circumstances earlier this week have been found safe, authorities confirmed late Saturday. According to police, 50-year-old Michelle Olszewski and her children disappeared from Ottawa County, Michigan, after she picked them up from school on April 30 and failed to return. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office described the situation as suspicious and began a multi-state search.

A Syracuse woman was arrested after crashing her vehicle and allegedly driving under the influence. The crash occurred around 7 p.m. on Friday, May 2, along County Road 7, just north of County Road 26. According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Natalie Hitchcock was driving a 2014 Audi northbound when she veered off the east side of the road and struck a speed limit sign. Hitchcock sustained a minor injury, reportedly biting her tongue during the incident.

The posters are intended to tug at your heartstrings, and the scammers are banking on the fact that you don’t have time to vet their stories in the 90 seconds you spend sitting at a red light.

Crash on U.S. 20 injures two, Driver cited for disregarding traffic signal

A three-vehicle crash on U.S. 20 near County Road 35 Thursday morning sent two people to the hospital and led to a traffic citation for one of the drivers. The collision occurred around 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, when a westbound Ford F-350 failed to stop for slowing traffic, crashing into the rear of a Ford Edge, which was then pushed into a Volkswagen Jetta stopped at a red light. The driver of the Edge and her passenger both sustained injuries.
