URBANA, Ill. — Dozens of people will be out of a job as a soybean research team based in the Midwest is forced to shutter. The Soybean Innovation Lab is set to close Apr. 15, according to a social media post from the lab's director and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign professor Peter Goldsmith. According to the lab's website, its goal is to give researchers, non-governmental organizations and the private sector information and technology needed to advance soybean development in Africa.

ST. LOUIS — A Saint Louis University assistant professor won silver Monday in the 2024 Paralympic Games as part of Team USA. First-time Paralympian Sarah Adam competed in wheelchair rugby against seven other teams. Adam is an assistant professor of occupational science and occupational therapy at Saint Louis University. Adam made history as the first woman to play on the U.S. wheelchair rugby team. The team also included St. Louis-area natives Eric Newby and Chuck Melton.

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — A dean at a St. Louis university is accused of tampering with student files during her previous job at St. Charles Community College. Nicole Nunn-Faron, dean of the College of Education at Harris-Stowe State University, is charged with one misdemeanor count of tampering with computer data. Harris-Stowe confirmed in a statement that in light of the charge, she had been placed on a leave of absence pending an internal investigation.

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis woman is accused of attacking a store manager after being upset over her fast food order. Talanye Carter, 41, is facing one count of second-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree assault. St. Louis police said on July 16, Carter was at the Jack in the Box at 4111 Lindell Boulevard when she complained about a missing chicken strip from an order she got last Saturday.
