DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Humane Society of Scott County is asking for help after taking in dozens of new cats. In a Facebook post, shelter officials said they received a call from a community member asking for help with an unmanageable situation. The shelter began the process of taking in approximately 70 cats from the property. Shelter officials said the sudden surge in cats is pushing them to their limit, and they're asking for donations to help with caring for their new arrivals.

MONTROSE, Iowa — The body of a missing boater was recovered Monday morning near Wever, Iowa, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say recovery crews located the individual around 10:15 a.m. June 23 along the Mississippi River. The person had been missing since June 21, when a boat reportedly capsized in the area. The individual’s identity has been confirmed, and next of kin have been notified. At the request of the family, the name is being temporarily withheld.
