DEDHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - Jury selection was completed Tuesday in the Karen Read murder retrial. A total of 18 jurors are sat. Jury selection began on April 1, taking a total of 10 days, double the number in the first trial. Nine men and nine women were selected. “I’m pleased,” said Karen Read. “We’re loaded for bear. We’re ready to get the show on the road, and we’re happy with the whole process.”Both sides had 18 preemptory challenges, allowing them to dismiss jurors just because they chose to.

DEDHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - Defendant Karen Read was back in Dedham on Monday for another day in court. Jury selection began on April 1, and following a three day weekend, Judge Beverly Cannone was on the bench once again. Monday was day nine of the jury selection process. Going into Monday, 16 jurors were sat. At the end of day nine, one juror dropped out and no new ones were added, leaving the case with 15 sat on a goal of 18. 56 people were in court on Monday as potential jurors.

DEDHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - Defendant Karen Read proclaimed her innocence as jury selection continued in Dedham on Thursday. “I have nothing to hide,” said Read, addressing media. “I’m anxious. I want everyone to know what I know. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, that’s been my mantra for three years.”The court has a new goal, to find 18 jurors, six of which would be alternates. As it stands, 16 total have already been selected, eight men and eight women.
