In a news conference Monday about a different topic, Lucas released more of a funding plan for the team. He said the city could redirect sales tax dollars from the development and fund them back into the project.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Armed security guards are coming to the Country Club Plaza, according to workers with the new ownership group Highland Park (HP) Village. Even if you go there Friday evening, you may see them in black uniforms walking the streets. Workers of the Dallas-based company spoke on Friday afternoon. They have an office on Broadway just south of 47th Street. HP Village has hired Metro Public Safety out of Gladstone to walk the streets.

GARDNER, Kan. (WDAF) — Hundreds of people have until 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, to leave the Aspen Place Apartment in Gardner. The city condemned the 180 units due to what they called “significant safety concerns” on Tuesday. Cars lined Aspen Street late Wednesday morning as 700 people were supposed to be out of their homes by 6 p.m. Thursday. One resident named Danielle says issues have been going on at the apartments for years, but it got really bad around the holidays.
