KANSAS CITY, Kan. (WDAF) — The Wyandotte County Planning Commission approved Monday night the request to bring Amazon’s latest innovation to the area, a drone delivery service. It won’t be immediately that you’ll see drones in the sky around Kansas City, Kansas, but Monday night was the first step in bringing Prime Air to the area. Amazon wants to build a new drone launch pad at its existing facility located on Riverview Avenue.

INDEPENDECNE, Mo. — Thursday, May 8, marked the birthday of President Harry S. Truman. It was also Victory in Europe Day, celebrating Germany’s surrender in World War II. On Thursday, the Truman Library and Museum in Independence held a birthday commemoration. A U.S. Army team laid a wreath at Truman’s tomb on behalf of President Donald Trump. Truman served as president from 1945 to 1953 and died in 1972. Officials say he always held a special place in his heart for his hometown.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Police Department is paying tribute to officers killed in the line of duty. It held a memorial service on Thursday at police headquarters. There were 120 flags on display, one for each officer killed in the line of duty. For 120 hours before the service, dispatchers read one officer’s name per hour over the police radio system. All names were read again during the ceremony.
