The Washington City Council renewed 12 liquor licenses as part of its consent agenda Monday. Washington Town & Country Fair officials and community supporters cut a ribbon Thursday to celebrate the completion of the new $1 million roof over the Main Stage at the Fairgrounds. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was followed by the annual Washington Area Chamber of Commerce Summer Mixer, where 2025 Fair Co-Chair Stephanie McKenzie thanked those who made the new roof possible, as well as giving a preview of this year’s Fair, set for Aug. 6 to 10.

The sale includes The Missourian, Franklin County’s oldest and largest newspaper, its digital platform, emissourian.com, and its commercial printing operations. The newspaper, which dates back to 1860, was purchased by James L. Miller in 1937.
