(WNCN) — Under bright blue skies and in the warmth of the North Carolina May sunshine, Duke junior Andie Smith wraps her finger slowly, methodically, gripping her club – a sleek extension of her intent. Her eyes fixated on the white ball resting delicately on the tee mere inches away from her feet.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — At just 20 years old, Jaedyn Shaw is making history on and off the soccer field. The rising star of the NC Courage and the U.S. Women’s National Team isn’t just known for her technical skills and fearless playing style — she’s also becoming a fashion icon in the world of sports. Shaw took some — dare we say — “extra time” with CBS 17’s Jordan Crammer to talk about her journey as a young USWNT and NWSL player, as well as her jaw-dropping fashion sense.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Game One of any best-of-seven series isn’t going to decide how the series plays out. But Game One of the Eastern Conference Final didn’t do anything to dispel the narratives that have surrounded the Carolina Hurricanes in the postseason. You know the ones—the ones that say they can’t win in the playoffs. Tuesday’s loss marked 13 straight conference final defeats for the club.

CARY, N.C. (WNCN) – There was never a cloud hanging over the practice field at WakeMed Soccer Park, but some questions had begun brewing for the North Carolina Courage after starting the season 0-2-3. The most obvious, of course, was when the first win of the season was going to happen. “They were waiting for that moment to happen,” Courage head coach Sean Nahas said. It finally did in dramatic fashion on Saturday night.

RT @UVABaseball: It's a new era. Welcome to Charlottesville, @coachchris14! #GoHoos https://t.co/B3CDkw4eiD

Nina King has been dynamic in her hiring at #Duke. Really excited to see which route she goes to replace Chris Pollard.

BREAKING: @UVABaseball is hiring @DukeBASE's Chris Pollard as its next head coach, I'm told. Pollard spent the last 12 seasons with the Blue Devils and guided the program to 4 NCAA Super Regional appearances and made #Duke a postseason mainstay. https://t.co/uuQ9hxGxi4
