NANAIMO — Cosplay and comic book-lovers from all around are getting ready to descend on the Harbour City for the largest free comic con this side of the Rocky Mountains. The 2025 edition of Curious ComiCon takes place on Saturday, May 3, inside Country Club Centre from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., complete with vendors, artists, and cosplay contests.

NANAIMO — Stretches of warm weather followed by rain showers was the story weather-wise for much of B.C. last month, and the mid-Island was no different. A daily mean temperature of around 9.0 degrees Celsius for Nanaimo made April warmer than usual but much drier, with a similar pattern across much of Vancouver Island. That’s according to warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada Lisa Erven who said weather patterns were also very similar province-wide last month.

The network of blue e-bikes was established last year with stations dotting all corners of the Harbour City, allowing users to travel up to 25 kilometres per hour along the active transportation routes.

NANAIMO — Local police found several guns following a search of an encampment at a central Nanaimo park on Friday, after a man arrived at the hospital suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the leg.
