    2 1/1 CAMPAIGNERS drove a national debt calculator into Market Place as part of an awareness roadshow. The TaxPayers’ Alliance visited sites in Hampshire and Wiltshire on Friday, September 13, as part of a roadshow raising awareness of the UK’s national debt. This debt is increasing by £4,410 per second or £380 million per day, according to campaigners.

    A CITY councillor who failed to attend meetings in-person due to ill health has been dismissed. Lynne Blackwood, a Labour councillor who represented the St Paul's ward, was informed she would be dismissed from Salisbury City Council following a meeting on Monday, September 2. The law requires a member of a local authority to attend at least one meeting of that authority within a six month consecutive period, in order to avoid being disqualified as a councillor.

    6 1/1 A SHOP which pledged to donate all its profit to dog rescue charities is set to close just six months after it opened. Paws and More, in Castle Street, will close for the last time on Saturday, September 21. Owners Jacqui Honour, from Amesbury, and Barbara Emery, from Verwood, signed a six-month lease to "test the waters" but the shop has not received enough support to continue trading viably.

    3 1/1 THE leader of Wiltshire Council has taken National Highways to task after temporary traffic lights were left up four days after "emergency repairs" were completed. SGN discovered multiple gas leaks on Wilton Road, A36, and began carrying out repairs on Monday, August 26.

    2 1/1 A DRIVER has been hospitalised following a three-car crash on a main road into Salisbury. Emergency services were called to an incident on Wilton Road, A36, just after 12 noon on Friday, September 13. A resident reportedly saw one driver hit a car before they ploughed into a pillar outside her house. The second car then reportedly crashed into another car, resulting in three vehicles being damaged. Medics transported one patient to Salisbury District Hospital.
