SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A man was taken into custody after an incident involving a car pursuit and shots being fired on Wednesday night. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a driver sped past a trooper on I-15 around 6000 South, reportedly driving 104 miles per hour. The trooper began following after the driver. “They were able to catch up and try to stop the vehicle,” Major Jeff Nigbur with UHP told ABC4.com.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Utah’s 45-day legislative session came to an end on Friday, March 7, bringing the total number of bills passed by lawmakers to 582. Many of the bills will now head to the governor’s desk for ultimate approval or denial. Gov. Spencer Cox signed nearly 30 bills into law before the session ended, and is expected to sign (and veto) several more in the coming weeks.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Senate Bill 330 advanced from the Business and Labor Committee Wednesday by a vote of 5-1. The bill amends the requirements to get a license as a barber or cosmetologist. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Scott Sandall (R), would also create micro-licenses or permits. This would allow people who are interested in a specific field to specialize and not go through full training. For example, to get a license as a master esthetician, it would require 1,200 training hours.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Thirteen people are in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — including several alleged gang members — after multiple agencies made an arrest on Sunday. According to the Rocky Mountain Division of the United States Drug Enforcement, 13 people were arrested on Feb. 16 — and four of the arrested individuals are said to be members of a gang.
