As I grew older, this tradition was extended to any team in Chicago that was playing well. When you’re from Chicago, you learn to appreciate when one of your teams is winning because it happens so rarely. Whether it was D-Rose’s MVP season, the Chicago Blackhawks’ terrific run to two Stanley Cups in three years, or the Chicago Cubs ending their 71-year-long World Series drought, my dad and I were always watching.

Long Beach City College baseball lost in a shutout on the road due to errors and denied on runs as the team lost to Cerritos 8-0 on April 25 losing the South Coast Conference. Coming from the previous win the vikings went scoreless due to the falcons defense with five errors committed with only eight hits. Along with the lack of the team defenses has allowed the falcons to score eight runs with three on the bottom of the sixth and eighth losing the chance to claim the title.

The Vikings ended the month of March on a wrong note as they lost 12-3 against Santa Ana Dons Mar. 27 at home. The Vikings faced off against Dons in the second game after a loss 13-2 on the first of two series on the road. The Vikings are still in the lead of the South Coast Conference 11-1 while the Dons are first in the Orange Empire Conference at 7-2.

The Vikings responded as designated hitter AJ Quezada hit an RBI as the team got back from a 2 run deficit as they won at home 8-2 against Pierce Brahmas on Tuesday. Vikings baseball stayed home as they faced the brahmas for the first game after sweeping the Pasadena Lancers on saturday placing them in the lead of the South Coast Conference.

Long Beach City College women’s beach volleyball shut out Ventura College in a close match that gave the Vikings the 5-0 overall session on Feb. 21 after their close win against Santa Monica College of 3-2 . The Vikings have kept their winning performance as they are staying at the Liberal Arts Campus for the match against Ventura. Volleyball director Tyler Jackson was impressed the team had managed to defeat a team that made it to the state finals in the previous season.
