    Noxious wildfire smoke from Canada will infiltrate the U.S. through the north this weekend, just as African dust clouds approach from the east. They have nothing to do with the Trump tariffs and might not be as ominous as it sounds, but their presence will be noticeable. Pedro Gomez was a friend to everyone, whether you met him 30 years or 30 minutes ago. Always jovial and kind. For years we kept a jocular argument about whether Cuba or Puerto Rico produced the best ballplayers. I'm sure he's keeping tabs up above. Descansa en paz hermano.
