GOSHEN - The prosecution and defense made their closing arguments to the jury in Edward Holley's murder trial Tuesday. Holley has been charged with second-degree murder in the bludgeoning death of Megan McDonald, whose badly beaten body was found in a field off Bowser Road in the Town of Wallkill on March 15, 2003. Holley was McDonald's former boyfriend. Lead defense counsel Paul Weber said prosecutors failed to prove their case against Holley.

GOSHEN - The prosecution rested its case in the Edward Holley murder trial on Friday. And the defense told the court it will not present a case. Before that announcement, however, the defense did make a motion for Orange County Court Judge Hyun Chin Kim to dismiss the case against Holley, who is accused in the 2003 bludgeoning death of Megan McDonald, a former girlfriend, in the Town of Wallkill.

GOSHEN - A Newburgh man who pleaded guilty to attempted murder and other felonies was sentenced to 26 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision. Orange County Court Judge Craig Stephen Brown pronounced the sentence for Wilmer Reyes-Bran, 24, of Newburgh, on Wednesday.

GOSHEN - A man who was in the medical unit at the Orange County jail at the same time as Edward Holley in spring 2023 testified Thursday in court that Holley confessed to others at the jail he had killed a woman. Holley is standing trial for second-degree murder in Orange County Court, accused in the 2003 bludgeoning death of Megan McDonald, whose badly beaten body was found in a field off Bowser Road in the Town of Wallkill on March 15, 2003.
