Take a walk along a creek or river in Bucks County, and chances are you'll find one. They look pretty. They look like a little adventure on the water. They're not. These low-head dams, the picturesque little waterfalls, are deceptive, dangerous and deadly. Experts and local first responders have called them "drowning machines."Tyler State Park Ranger Alec Campbell died on May 23 near one of the dams in the Neshaminy Creek when his kayak was swept over in a fast current.

A section of Langhorne-Yardley Road in Middletown will be closed for two months starting June 16 for intersection improvements. The $10.6 million project focuses on the reconstruction of the intersections at Bridgetown Pike and Woodbourne Road. Improvements include a new roundabout, upgraded traffic signals, and enhanced pedestrian and cyclist features. Detours will be in place using Woodbourne Road, Route 332, and Route 413.

Stump Road is closed this week for road repairs in Plumstead Township while PennDOT works on a pipe replacement project. A 2.7-mile stretch of Stump Road running between Route 611 (Easton Road) in Plumsteadville to Route 313 (Swamp Road) in Fountainville is closed Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a PennDOT news release. During the closure, PennDOT advises drivers to detour using Route 313, Route 113 (Bedminster Road), and Route 611.
