PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Another round of sunny skies, warmer-than-average temperatures, and dry weather remains around Portland on Thursday. Afternoon sunshine will help push temperatures into the lower 70s once again. These warmer-than-average temperatures are running about 10 degrees higher than what Portland should see for the middle of April. The lack of rain and above-average temperatures have helped to grow Portland’s rain deficit.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A stronger-than-normal geomagnetic storm continues to keep Portland’s aurora borealis potential elevated Wednesday night. Wednesday’s night northern light potential isn’t expected to reach May 2024 status, but a chance to see them still remains. Cloud-free skies will give much of the Pacific Northwest the upper hand at potentially seeing this astronomical event shortly after sunset.

Horrible news. There is still so much about the weather we don’t know. This will decrease forecast accuracy and the number of lives scientists are able to save.
