On Tuesday, Fayette County Attorney James Herbrich provided KXAN with an affidavit detailing the arrest of Robert Leroy Bowers, 45, of Katy by Department of Public Safety troopers.

AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Texas Department of Public Safety says a concerned citizen contacted local authorities to report a man was "on his way to the protest," at the State Capitol in Austin Saturday and was "planning to harm state lawmakers" attending a protest there. The timeline unfolded in a new statement DPS issued Monday, saying it determined the threat was "credible" and closed the Capitol and surrounding grounds out of precaution.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Department of Public Safety said the State Capitol building and grounds were evacuated and closed Saturday after investigators identified a credible threat to state lawmakers planning to attend a “No Kings” protest that evening. Shortly before 5 p.m. when the protest was set to begin, the agency confirmed to KXAN it had one person in custody in connection to the threat, arrested during a traffic stop by a DPS trooper in La Grange.
