Aransas Pass Director of Community Enrichment Kaylynn Paxson said that, thanks to a $15,000 grant from Phillips 66, more students will be able to learn swimming as a life-saving skill. CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The City of Aransas Pass is shifting leadership, starting at the top with ousting of current Mayor Ram Gomez. The longtime mayor lost to Jason Knight, who is currently the Aransas Pass Place 2 councilman. Knight said his top priority is to make a sizeable dent in the city's $40 million debt. He said the operating budget for the city is roughly half of that, sitting at $24 million. "The key to doing that is becoming a little more business friendly," he said.
