The father of a former Louisville Metro Police officer is suing Mayor Craig Greenberg and former police chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel claiming he was improperly arrested and injured after Greenberg ordered LMPD to “clean up” the area around a gas station convenience store where the plaintiff was buying a soda. Thomas Sanders, 53, says he went into Dixie Highway Liquors on the afternoon of May 28, 2024, to purchase a soda when he observed numerous LMPD officers at the scene.

Some changes are to provisions meant to address specific failures the DOJ had identified in its scathing 2023 report on LMPD.
