Rain chances are creeping back into the forecast for the next couple of days, but as we’ve been say for the past several days, no day is a total washout — especially for Thursday and Friday. While both bring the chance for a passing shower or storm most of the day will be dry. As the rain chances creep up, so will the moisture in the air. The humidity wasn’t bad today, but it was higher than yesterday.

After topping out in the 70s yesterday, today was a bit cooler as we reached near 70° inland, with 60s on the coast line. The nice part about this time of year is even with cooler temperatures like we saw on the coast today, the sunshine goes a long way! The sun strength today is equivalent to July 30th!The mild air will be with us for the rest of the week and into the weekend. Unfortunately the rain chances will be increasing the next few days, but don’t fret – no day is a total washout.

After another damp and dreary day today, there’s some promise on the horizon! Showers will taper off before midnight, though fog and drizzle will be the story overnight into tomorrow morning. Tomorrow we’ll decrease the clouds and we’ll see some sunshine through the second part of the day! That added sunshine will give temperatures a boost — up near 70° tomorrow afternoon. With more sun Thursday, temperatures should make the lower 70s.

What’s with all the rain?! Well, we’re in a pattern right now, affectionately known as an Omega Block. It gets its name from the Greek letter Omega which looks like this:The current weather set up resembles that Omega symbol with an area of high pressure stuck between two areas of low pressure. The jet stream, as it navigates its way between the highs and lows, take the shape of Omega. The problem (or maybe good news) with this is it’s a blocking pattern which means we’re just stuck this way.

We have another dry day on tap for today, but it won’t be as warm as the last couple, especially on the coast. The good news is the wind will back down quite a bit from the last few days, but the lack of wind will promote a sea breeze which will keep the coast line significantly cooler. Those close to the water may not even make it to 60° this afternoon. Tomorrow is a warmer day once again but it will come with a small chance of a shower.
