What a gorgeous day we had today with sunshine, warm temperatures and low humidity. We have another nice day on the way for tomorrow but you’ll notice more clouds overhead. I don’t want to sell it as a cloudy day because most of those clouds will be high level. It will just be more of a filtered sunshine versus the bright blue skies we had yesterday and through the day today. Those high clouds are ahead of rain showers that will be back for the day on Thursday.

SCARBOROUGH, Maine (AP) — An unusual May nor’easter is set to wallop New England on Thursday, providing a soaking before the Memorial Day holiday weekend with weather more commonly associated with fall and winter. Nor’easters usually arrive in the end of fall and winter and bring high winds, rough seas and precipitation in the form of rain or snow. This week’s nor’easter could bring wind gusts over 40 mph (64 kph) and up to 2 inches (5 centimeters) of rain in some areas.

SCARBOROUGH, Maine (AP) — An unusual May nor’easter soaked New England on Thursday and threatened to bring snow to higher elevations as the states prepared for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Nor’easters usually arrive in the end of fall and winter and bring high winds, rough seas and precipitation in the form of rain or snow. This week’s nor’easter could bring wind gusts over 40 mph (64 kph) and up to 2 inches (5 centimeters) of rain in some areas.

We started off with hints of sun this morning, but the clouds backed their way in today and those overcast skies will be with us through Saturday. With the overcast skies comes rain, some days wetter than others, with a spring nor’easter set to hit on Thursday. Tomorrow is a cloudy day, a cooler day, and a damp day. We don’t have any real rain on the way for Wednesday outside of some patchy drizzle, especially along the coastline.

Today was on the cooler side, yes, but really it wasn’t far off from something we’d expect in mid May. Our average high is now 67° and most of us managed to climb into the low to mid 60s this afternoon. The problem today was the wind more than anything, gusting over 30 mph at times. The wind will settle down a bit overnight and into tomorrow. Tonight will still be a breezy night but it won’t be as gusty as today or even last night for that matter.
