FORTY FORT, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A big event this time of year aims to help battle a leading cause of death. Some great weather greeted a huge crowd taking part in the Cancer Wellness Center of NEPA’s Annual Walk. 28/22 PA live! Co-host Chris Bohinski served as emcee and greeted participants. The event took participants on a two-mile trek, starting and ending at the Cancer Wellness Center in Forty Fort. The walk is the center’s largest fundraiser of the year.

River search in Lycoming County for missing girl suspended

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The search for a missing girl who was swept away in the Susquehanna River has been suspended until further notice. The South Williamsport Fire Department says the river conditions and depth are too dangerous at this time. On Sunday, 10-year-old Claué Schreffler-Algofera was playing in the river when she was swept away by the current in the Williamsport area. Her mother tried to save her, but she too was carried away over a damn before being rescued.

HONESDALE, WAYNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Tuesday’s weather caused flash flooding, damage to property, and first responders to be on scene for hours in Wayne County. 28/22 News Reporter Gianna Galli was in Honesdale, where flooding has significantly eased up, but the area still remains impacted by the storm. You can see areas of flash flooding here at the intersection of Main Street and Fourth Street. Large amounts of water here have since receded.

Long lines at DMV in Dunmore as Real ID deadline looms

DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Real ID enforcement goes into effect on Wednesday. The line outside the Dunmore DMV earlier Tuesday was as long as people were waiting to get the Real ID. People were in that line for about an hour and a half. You will need the Real ID to pass through airport security or get into some government buildings. While the Real ID is voluntary in Pennsylvania, it is mandatory to fly or enter some federal buildings if you do not have a passport or military ID.
