Some local organization teamed-up to plant the first flowers of the season. They filled dozens of different sidewalk planters along Courthouse Square and the city’s business district with Dianthus, a hardy type of carnation that can withstand extreme temperature swings in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A hunt of a different kind brought out more than 50 vendors and many more customers in Scranton’s Green Ridge section. Hundreds of people turned out to Lace Village for a spring shopping market. It featured everything from clothing and crafts to jewelry and food. The market also included a petting zoo featuring sheep and goats. This family-friendly event is one of several throughout the year held at Lace Village.

DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Elsewhere, children filled up their baskets for another Easter egg hunt. It’s billed as the Bunny Hunt at Saint Anthony’s playground in Dunmore. Organizers say it took a matter of minutes for kids to grab all of the three-thousand eggs filled with candy and prizes. “When they said go, everybody ran to like the center of the field.
