Ramona Garden Club set for spring fling at Plant and Craft Sale

The buds and blooms springing to life are a sign the Ramona Garden Club’s Plant and Craft Sale is just around the corner. The spring event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at Ramona Oaks Park, 25341 Pappas Road in San Diego Country Estates. The event is held twice each year, once in spring and again in the fall. Garden Club Co-President Jane Vidal said the Plant and Craft Sale is held in conjunction with a garden tour every other year.
New Ramona Grange farmers market pleases buyers and sellers

Ag-related vendors set up covered tables for the first time at Ramona Grange 632 during the kick off to Ramona American Graffiti Cruise Nights on April 17. The new Ramona Grange Growers Exchange at 215 Seventh St. attracted eight vendors who sold produce, sourdough bread, homemade jams, honey and other assorted items. Although the two events are separate, they offer different options for entertainment and shopping.

The Ramona Food & Clothes Closet (RFCC) had a good turnout and community support April 10 for the opening day of its new Home Store next to its thrift shop. Customers made lots of purchases of merchandise, including housewares and linens along with pictures, lamps and small furniture, said RFCC Manager Vesna Curry. “We were running out of stuff in the Home Store but we still have a lot of stock in the back,” Curry said. “Which was one of the primary reasons we did this. It’s a never-ending circle.

St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church of Poway will celebrate the spirit of The Kentucky Derby at its fourth annual Outreach Gala. The fundraiser starts at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at The Country Club of Rancho Bernardo, 12280 Greens East Road. Anne Hand, gala organizer, said that since The Kentucky Derby thoroughbred horse race at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., is on the same day as the gala this year, organizers decided to pair the two events.
Poway High students present Eye on Art Student Showcase

More than 500 pieces of artwork will be displayed at the Eye on Art Student Showcase being held this month at the Poway High School campus. The showcase held every spring will feature student made paintings, ceramics, floral designs, photography and digital media. Poway High robotics coach Rodger Dohm’s students will also display creative selections of architecture, 3-D animation and items made in an Intro to Design class.
