The buds and blooms springing to life are a sign the Ramona Garden Club’s Plant and Craft Sale is just around the corner. The spring event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at Ramona Oaks Park, 25341 Pappas Road in San Diego Country Estates. The event is held twice each year, once in spring and again in the fall. Garden Club Co-President Jane Vidal said the Plant and Craft Sale is held in conjunction with a garden tour every other year.

Ag-related vendors set up covered tables for the first time at Ramona Grange 632 during the kick off to Ramona American Graffiti Cruise Nights on April 17. The new Ramona Grange Growers Exchange at 215 Seventh St. attracted eight vendors who sold produce, sourdough bread, homemade jams, honey and other assorted items. Although the two events are separate, they offer different options for entertainment and shopping.

Plans for temporary and permanent skateparks have stalled as proposed sites are considered, but Ramona Municipal Water District officials say they are pushing ahead to find ways to get them built. The long-awaited permanent skatepark project was recently delayed while an alternate site at St. Mary’s-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church was studied and then rejected.

Poway City Council members unanimously approved a new policy that requires a special election when filling a council vacancy that occurs within the first 18 months of a council member’s four-year term. The council considered the item Tuesday night after it was proposed by Mayor Steve Vaus two weeks earlier.
