As those donations come in from the community, Leon County school children are bringing jars of peanut butter and jelly to school. One of the schools that shows up big year after year is Leon High School.

    TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Hurricane Debby toppled trees and downed power lines in a Tallahassee neighborhood still trying to recover from the May 10th tornadoes. The corner of Kay Avenue and Par Lane was covered in debris Monday as a tree fell across the road, bringing power lines down with it and snapping a nearby power pole. Several of the homes in the neighborhood are still covered with blue tarps in the wake of a trio of tornadoes that devastated the area in May.

    TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - A Tallahassee woman is serving as an athletic trainer for the U.S. Women’s Basketball team as they compete in the Summer Games in Paris. Nicole Alexander calls it an honor. ”It’s one of those things that you never expect to happen no matter how hard you work,” she said. “And so when you get the honor of being in the Olympics it’s so surreal. [It] is the only word that I keep using, and then being in a place like Paris which is just so beautiful.

    TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - There are more than 100 dogs up for adoption right now at Tallahassee’s Animal Service Center and they range from chihuahuas and beagles to huskies, labs and shepherds. Each week, WCTV teams up with the shelter for Furry Friday. It’s a chance to get those dogs out of their kennels and into the spotlight in hopes of helping them find their fur-ever families and get adopted.
