    ST. JOSEPH — A few changes have been made to the paid parking program in downtown St. Joseph, but they did not appease many business owners. During a May 28 City Commission meeting, Mayor Brook Thomas said adjustments were made quickly since the program took effect May 15. She said any tickets issued the first week of paid parking have been, or will be, canceled – due to a lot of confusion about how to pay.

    ST. JOSEPH — Berrien County officials are pleased with the progress made by organizations that have received money in the first round of opioid settlement awards. Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center, which administers 15 programs throughout the state of Michigan, is the parent organization of Serenity Hills Recovery & Wellness Center in Berrien Springs – and was the third organization to report on its progress.

    ST. JOSEPH — Erika Espeland had planned on becoming an anthropologist. But while on an archeological dig in Alaska in 2005, she discovered her interest in a different career. Espeland graduated from Central Michigan University in 2009 with a master’s degree in Geographic Information Science. She had majored in Geographic Information Systems, with a second major in anthropology, and obtained a bachelor of science degree from CMU in 2007, before going on to complete her master’s.
