A nine-year-old girl has died following a fast-moving house fire in Newark on Monday morning, officials said. The fire was first reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Astor Street, between Brunswick St and Sherman Ave. Neighbors rushed to the home to help the family inside, knocking on doors and screaming for everyone to get out, witnesses told News 4.

A man faces murder charges after leaving his girlfriend badly injured and killing her mother in a brutal double stabbing in the Bronx, according to police. The deadly attack occurred inside an apartment building on Park Avenue in Concourse Village Sunday morning, police said. Rosemary Tapia Bautista was stabbed in the chest and killed, while her daughter suffered serious injuries. The 40-year-old daughter was carried on a stretcher after she was found stabbed multiple times.

After a 3-year-old boy covered in bruises died shortly after being found abandoned at a Brooklyn hospital, police are searching for the boy's mother and her boyfriend — as the family urges them both to surrender. Police said 3-year-old Kyng Davis was left by his 24-year-old mother Sunday morning in the emergency room at Downstate Medical Center. The young boy was found unconscious around 11:30 a.m. and was rushed inside, but could not be saved.

A massive tree fell on a house in East Elmhurst, apparently due to strong winds, leaving extensive damage behind. The quiet Queens neighborhood where this took place is about a mile away from LaGuardia airport. Strong winds overnight and this morning apparently led to the tree being lifted out of its roots and falling onto the nearby home. According to neighbors, the shocking incident, happened around 6 a.m. Thankfully no one was injured.

A 31-year-old man is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and other crimes for allegedly stabbing a woman and her two young children to death in their Jersey City apartment, investigators said Friday. Napoleon Romero-Anduray is also accused of unlawful possession of a weapon in the stabbing deaths early Thursday of 31-year-old mother Luisa Urbano and her kids, 9-year-old Juan Martin Urbano and his little sister, 5-year-old Diana Ramirez. The mother was pronounced dead at the scene.
