Simon Bennett, the long-standing co-owner of Augill Castle in Cumbria, has died. Bennett purchased the Eden Valley castle – a former family home – with business partner Wendy Bennett in 1997. Chef Thomas Straker is set to launch a “cold bar concept” at his flagship restaurant Straker’s in London’s Notting Hill following a kitchen fire. The fire started on Saturday night (3 May) in the kitchen extraction system and was contained to the rear section of the restaurant. There were no injuries, though the cause of the fire is still being investigated. Pembrokeshire’s Paternoster Farm restaurant to close later this year

Field-to-fork restaurant Paternoster Farm in Pembrokeshire is set to close later this year after five years of trading. According to founder Michelle Evans, formerly a family law solicitor, and her husband Leum, the business is being forced to close by Pembrokeshire County Council, who have decided not to renew the lease and instead offer the site to another party “without consultation”.
