    Major job cuts are coming to one of the biggest school districts in Colorado. Adams 12 Five Star Schools is cutting about 150 jobs as it faces a $27.5 million budget shortfall. The district says it employs about 5,000 people and has a student enrollment of about 36,000. The district has already eliminated some positions, including teacher librarians in elementary and middle schools and gifted and talented advocates at all levels.

    The Denver Police Department now has an improved tool to train officers and help them be effective in a variety of scenarios. On Wednesday, DPD unveiled the new virtual simulator, which replaces the old one bought in 2016. The new simulator is designed to help officers learn how to handle different situations they might see on the streets, from deescalating a routine traffic stop with an angry driver to finding out when it's appropriate to use deadly force to stop a shooting.

    A 16-year-old boy has been taken to the hospital after being shot by an Aurora police officer early Monday morning. An APD official says that the teen charged at officers and had a knife on him. The shooting happened around 3:15 a.m. near South Elkhart Way and East Mississippi Avenue. Mark Hildebrand, division chief of Aurora police's investigations division, said officers received a call about someone "prowling" in an apartment complex.
